Quality softwood plywood will not split or warp.
Rust resistant fastenings used throughout.
Natural untreated timber this will allow the box to weather quickly and not discourage the bird with unpleasant smells.
Box should be positioned at least 4mtrs high so the opening is out of the rain and wind and facing somewhere between north & south-east. The birds should have a clear flight to the nest box opening and away from feeding containers and tables as this causes conflict between nesting and feeding birds. Old nesting material should be removed in October or November and the box scalded with boiling water to kill parasites, do not use any treatments powders or preservatives.
PLEASE NOTE. The Barn Owl is a Schedule 1 species which means that it is against the law to inspect an active nest without possessing the necessary licence.
Timber is a natural product & when exposed to nature may shrink, swell, split & distort. This is a natural process and will not affect its structural properties. We cannot accept any claims for returns in regard to these natural processes.
